Taken by surprise

Outing in Kufri and Monkey business 014A trip to the hills in Outing in Kufri and Monkey business 008Northern India is never complete without several encounters with primates of different kinds and it’s almost always that they have the upper hand over us humans.
They have been known to take off people’s hats and eyeglasses, not to mention making off with food packets and raiding the refrigerator.
But as this set of three pictures show, they cannot have the upper hand against man’s best friend.
For quite some time, this langur family, perched safely on a pine, was waiting for its turn to ‘ransack’ the large municipal bin in Shimla as a pack of dogs went about their business.Outing in Kufri and Monkey business 020
They were in for a rude shock when they made their move, thinking the last of the dogs had left. But one from the pack, perhaps hungrier than the others, had decided to stay behind and made his intentions very  clear.
It was certainly this dogs day!

What a delightful series… I’m on the dog’s side! I’ve never been a fan of monkeys of any sort and I’m not sure why. You did a great job capturing these bandits!
