The li’le lady from Japan

DSC_8461.JPGThis curio shop was closed when we visited Khecheopalri Lake near Pelling in Sikkim and were told it is run by a “charming little lady from Japan” who comes there every year for a few months and sets up[ base at one of Buddhism’s holiest places.
Also known as the Wishing Lake, it is said “one wish per visit” is fulfilled when one prays at the lake, considered one of the wonders of nature.
We would have been delighted if we had got an opportunity to meet this lady who annually travels thousands of miles to be close to divinity and the beauty of the region.
It’s amazing how people can do this religiously – year after year after year – leaving their families and dear ones behind – when we were desperate to get home just after a week in the hills.
Just goes to show their determination, belief and devotion!
