A walk through Bahrain’s Old Muharraq town can throw up some interesting sights – like these ancient doors and door knobs. There are also a lot of old houses – several of them needing urgent restoration – as the cracks on an accompanying photograph show. In many cases, even modern construction has old doors, carefully restored, installed – something that gives a period look to the houses.
And, strangely, the more one travels around the township on foot, the more one explores, and more and more surprises emerge.
As I have said earlier, and at the cost of repeating myself, again say that the best way to explore any settlement, or any place for that matter, is to get lost there – and travel on foot.
