Bahrain’s Greens

DSC_0341We visited the local Central Vegetable Market this morning.DSC_0346 Normally, we would do the grocery shopping from one of the supermarkets but looked towards Bahrain’s local winter produce this time round – at least for the vegetables. What we got was very fresh and ‘life-like’, particularly the celery, the tomatoes and the baby tomatoes.
Though most of Bahrain’s vegetables and fruits come from outside the country, this is not the case in winter when we grow many, including oranges and broccoli, locally. So a visit to the traditional ‘bazaar’ is very much in order at least once in the season!
