DSC_2186 DSC_2177 DSC_2169 DSC_2164 DSC_2158 DSC_2157 DSC_2146Tuesday evening was the beginning of what is an extended weekend for Bahrain. The observance of the Islāmic occasion of Ashura made it a four-day holiday, including the regular Friday-Saturday, so those who have been often called Bahrain’s crowds of “weekenders” were out in strength at the Bab Al Bahrain and the Old Manama Suq area. I captured the “essence” of weekend life wandering through the lanes, complete with a mobile “karak” tea stall, people talking on the phone, or simply chilling out on the bench. Life in Bahrain is no doubt pretty relaxed but it is more of a picnic when a long holiday beckons.
