This is what most workers in Bahrain, who toil all day to make a living, and help us make ours, come back to after a hard day’s labour. The staircase pictured here is one of the better one’s leading to an ‘apartment’ shared by around a dozen people who stay without proper air-conditioning and water supply. The living quarters also have an ‘attached’ kitchen and a ‘community’ wash and bath space. Several programmes and authorities’ promises always get started but fizzle out somewhere along the way.
