Art Space

Art Space

When a group of enthusiasts in Bahrain contributed their skills to create art out of waste, their initiative seen by skeptics as an exercise in futility. But Adliya’s Al Riwaq Art Space has now become one of the country’s main attractions, thanks to the younger generation that has taken it upon themselves to promote art in this novel way. Used bottles and cans, broken door handles, discarded road signs and even old bicycles have been artfully set up to make the area look attractive and present an ‘international’ look to visitors. This reminds me of the well-known Rock Garden in Chandigarh, India where the original ‘waste man’ Nek Chand created a wonderland out of things we think we no longer want.
